I've Been Thinking...

I do it a lot…I mean thinking. I do it because thinking is the key to understanding and getting what you want and need from both business and life. So that makes me think that the tag line for the newsletter should really be a take off of the great Rene Descartes line, “I think therefore I am.” To make it more practical, my approach is, “I think, therefore I can….” Thinking enables…thinking encourages…think empowers.

July 2007

Yesterday is done, gone; it’s over. Successful companies and people know that history is important for context and foundation but yesterday’s approach may not be right to handle today’s situation…business or personal. When you went to bed last night, the world changed. Some of the changes directly affect you and your business, others do not…at least not yet. Successful companies and people move through each day with their eyes open to notice everything, learning as much as they can; they know that success in this highly competitive, high performing technological environment happens in thinking…in the mind. In short, they think. And when they do, they “can” (make things happen.).

I have noticed that many people seem to get through the day with as little thinking as possible. We follow our patterns and do the same thing over and over. We drive to work the same way each day, have the same coffee at the same coffee store each day. We have the same food for dinners and spend our leisure time in the same way. And though it may be comfortable, it exposes us to so little of what life really has to offer. It also stops us from thinking.

What does this look like from a life perspective? Doing the same thing over and over, not thinking and inventing helps us live very regular and predictable lives. Regular and predictable is not bad, but it isn’t the ride of your life either. If we truly have one shot at life, or as others have said, “life is not a dress rehearsal,” shouldn’t we think about how to make it truly extraordinary? Our ability to have a great life is up to us and the way we think. Push your personal thinking – see our tips and tools.

How about business? Since we are in an intellectual capital age, thinking matters more now than ever before. In our service (versus manufacturing) environment, each employee has to think through his or her day to provide the right service in the right way to keep customers coming back. Stop the thinking, inventing, creating and the service suffers. When service suffers, customers do not become loyal and results suffer. It is all about thinking…ours and our employees’. Push your business thinking and your employee thinking – see our tools and tips.

Your Tools

Humanetrics wants you to think your way to success. To help you with this we introduce our Success Formula process and worksheet. It is a way to get you thinking about what you want and then give you the tools to get it. Some of our tools are all about you…and the work you need to do on your own. Some of our tools are about us and the things we can do for you - but only when you are ready. So click on the Success Formula to start your thinking in a new and bigger way. And then contact us when you are ready to push your thinking, responses and understanding to a power. I think, therefore I can (succeed).

Thinking Tips for the Month

  • Spend an extra hour with someone you know - and ask them a question about their life, their business or their perspective on an issue. Share your ideas.
  • Change three things about your dinners…what you eat, when you eat, where you eat, what environments you create for dinner, who you dine with. Just change it.
  • Change what you read for a month. If you like fiction, pick up a biography. If you like non-fiction, read a thriller. At minimum, get back into reading.
  • Find a blog in an area that interests you…finance, investing, raising children, mentoring, innovative thinking - and participate to learn from others and share your ideas.
  • Get up an hour earlier and see what you see that you have been missing. What does the world look like at this hour? Write or tell a poem or story about it.
  • Find an employee who is exhibiting an award or certificate in their workspace; ask about the award or certificate. What does this mean to them? What does this mean to you?
  • Click on a site with brain teasers…go to www.brainbashers.com or www.billsgames.com – my two favorite to get the brain cells going and activate your thinking.
